The existing building is a typical 30s’ fascist architecture example. It was used as the entrance of the workers to the Dalmine steel tubes mills from 1939 up to 1999 when substituted by a new entrance building.
The program was to refurbish it in order to house the brand-new energy trading company Dalmine Energie’s offices.
The building consisted in an all façade long porch with steel columns, a central area of entrance and an upper floor with an all façade long stripe-window.
We closed the porch with a full glass façade that maintains a visual contact between internal and external space like the previous porch did and, at night, transforms itself into a gigantic lighted lamp.
