Exhibition "Leon Gimpel (1873-1948)"
Paris, France 2008
program Exhibition on Leon Gimpel work
client Musée d'Orsay
size sqm 180
Previous to our design stays the consideration that Gimpel’s « sense de l’image » is incredibly contemporary. We felt Gimpel as a contemporary artist and wanted to transmit to the public this sensation going through an un-nostalgic and un-mimetic set.
A further definition came with the character of the objects to be exposed : the autochromes were a medium not meant to be shown if not through projection.
The curatorial decision to show directly these small and delicate glasses obliged to a very reduced back lighting.
The design decision was to show them in a plexiglas continuum underlining the aesthetical « unit of intentions ».
